Tell me about yourself: answer for BBA fresher

BBA graduates are hired for many different jobs, so interviewers listen for the function you lean towards and for evidence that you can work with people. Leading a small team and quoting a number from it does that well.

Sample from Pooja, a BBA graduate from Nagpur, in a campus interview

About 1 min 5 sec 149 words

  1. Presentwho I am now

Good morning, I'm Pooja Deshmukh, and I've just finished my BBA with a marketing specialisation at a college in Nagpur. I like talking to people, and I'm comfortable with Excel and Canva.

  2. Pastwhat I have done

In my final year, I led a team of six to raise sponsorships for our college fest. We approached sixty local businesses, and eighteen agreed. In the end we collected about one lakh twenty thousand rupees. I learnt how to take a 'no' politely and to follow up without being pushy, which is harder than it sounds when the fest date is close.

  3. Futurewhy this role

I'm applying for the management trainee role because it lets me work across sales and marketing before choosing one. I'd like to learn the field properly and earn my place in the team. I'm ready to travel for field work, and I'd be glad to start with territory visits before moving to desk roles.

Short version

Three sentences, for when you're nervous.

I'm Pooja, a BBA graduate from Nagpur with a marketing specialisation. I led six students to raise about ₹1.2 lakh in sponsorships for our college fest. I'd like to begin as a management trainee in sales or marketing.

3 things to include

  • The size of your team

Six people and sixty calls give the panel a sense of scale. Say it in numbers.

  • How you handled 'no'

Sales and marketing roles face rejection daily. One line on how you dealt with it shows you can cope.

  • A function you lean towards

Say sales or marketing, even if you are flexible, so the interviewer knows where to place you.

2 things to avoid

  • Only talking about the fun

A fest is a fine project, but describe the targets and results, not the music and food.

  • Saying you will do any job

Management trainee panels still prefer a reasoned choice to a shrug.
